Firstly, I’d like to say thank you all for being so patient and coming back to my blog despite my recent AWOL period. I had quite a fair bit going on recently with uni, my health and starting a new job (which I’m loving), but I didn’t want to half heartedly post any content on here for the sake of doing so, so I decided to wait till I had the chance to post something that I’ve put some solid effort into and can be happy about – which you can also hopefully enjoy..
So as you can tell, this is one of my style edit posts (which I’m hoping to upload weekly from now on) and I’m guessing by now that you’ve picked up on the major difference between this post and all my others.. yes – this is a MONOCHROME look! Those who know me, know of my love for bright colours, but there are some times that I occasionally enjoy a simple casual, yet stylish, black and white outfit. So hopefully you’ll like this look just as much as I did.
- French Connection – Whistler Check Drape Shirt
- Forever New – Carly Corduroy Jeans
- Lancôme – L’Absolu Rouge 011 Rose Nature
- Givenchy – Medium Antigona bag in goat leather
- Forever New – Foxie Caged Ghillie Heels
This edit is a very simple one as you can see, but no it’s not because I was being lazy or was in a rush, it was actually my intention to have a very minimal style edit for a change. In the past I’ve included many various items in my edits, but today I wanted to switch it up and have a very basic one with staple pieces. The outfit I’ve put together here is kind of an ‘off-duty’ one, it’s simple and comfortable yet still has a touch of elegance and sophistication added by the heels and bag.
This French Connection Wrap Shirt is a perfect staple to have in your wardrobe all year round! There’s no rule saying that your staples have to be plain coloured or without print – so feel free to experiment and find a print that matches your personality! This loose fitting wrap shirt is super comfortable since it’s made out of 100% viscose and the cross over front creates a relaxed silhouette. Tucking this shirt into a pair of black skinny jeans creates a more polished overall look while still maintaining the comfort. I’ve chosen corduroy jeans in this edit – simply because they’re hugely popular in autumn, but you can opt for black denims or black PU leather pants even!
This Givenchy bag is a hot favorite among celebrities and even though I admit I didn’t much like it when I first saw it – it has grown on me a fair bit. I’ve seen Miranda Kerr sporting this bag several times and I just love how well it matches with her wardrobe! I’ve paired this look with the black Givenchy bag because it gives off an effortless yet classy vibe. I’d totally recommend pairing this with a pair of black rimmed soft cat eye sunglasses to add to the ‘off-duty’ look. If you are like me and a Givenchy bag is not anywhere near your budget range, I can recommend a few bags of similar styles from retailers such as; Charles and Keith, Lipsy and Carvela Kurt Geiger – these options are only a fraction of the price you would pay for the Antigona bag by Givenchy!
Lace up heels have been doing the rounds in all retailers since last season and there’s a reason why they’re still here – people just can’t stop loving them! They’ve come out in different neutral and tan shades in suede for the autumn season in many stores as well. For this look I decided to pair the outfit with a pair of caged lace up heels from Forever New with a block heel. The block heels adds more support than a normal pair of heels would and makes it easier for you to wear over long periods of time. If you’re after a bit more of an elegant pair, then perhaps these Oden pair from Billini may be right for you. There’s also an option from Wittner for you if you prefer their brand. Also, if you are a Wittner shoes lover, there is a massive Wittner Outlet VIP Shopping Night in Heatherton tomorrow from 6pm – 9pm – I’ll definitely be visiting!
The dark red Lancôme lipstick just seemed like the perfect way to finish off the look especially since the shade is just perfect for autumn/fall weather. If you’re thinking about how to accessorise this look, my recommendation would be to stick to the simple choices – perhaps a Tiffany and Co silver heart chain or small dainty cuff bracelets or a pair of cute studs.
Well anyways, there’s my first monochrome edit on the blog for you! I feel like I could imagine this outfit on Kareena Kapoor Khan or Shay Mitchell.. who do you think would wear it? Let me know in the comments below.. Also, tell me if you’d like to see another black and white style edit up on the blog soon.
Have a lovely remainder of the week my pretties! I promise you’ll be hearing from me again soon, but in the meantime stay updated through my Instagram account @prettiinpinkblog.
