Since it’s almost one month into autumn, I thought now would be an appropriate time to share my first seasonal style edit with you all. The centre piece of today’s style edit is this versatile black trench by Forever New. Although it’s described as a dress on their website, there’s no reason why you can’t style it as a duster coat if you feel like it. The material of this piece is a silky premium crepe which gives the item a soft luxe feel while also retaining it’s comfort. I bought the Joss Sleeveless Coat last year from Forever New and it also had a similar flattering silhouette which I loved! Also, this trench is now on sale for half price both in store and online – so if you’re interested in it, better grab it before it runs out!
Autumn always reminds me of tan, deep red, black and neutral shades – and these are the colours I’ve chosen to stick to in this edit. This gathered viscose elastane skirt from Bardot is the perfect staple for your autumn wardrobe especially because of it’s deep burgundy colour. You can easily pair it with any colour; whether it’s a lighter hue of the same shade or a completely different contrasting colour such as white. In fact wearing a crisp white top with this skirt would be a perfect way to make your outfit stand out from the crowd! Also, the material that this skirt is made out of – viscose elastane – is my favourite autumn material. I have several long sleeve tops in this material because it’s super comfy and warm and also easy to layer with, so you’d have no problem layering tights or leggings under this skirt for an additional layer of warmth. Did I mention that this skirt comes in three other neutral colours and is also a sale pick?
Now onto the shoes… nude pumps are in almost every girl’s wardrobe and it makes sense given that they are an easy neutral match for many outfits. I liked this Aldo pair I found, not only because of the suede material and simple yet elegant design, but also because of the heel structure. Now you may or may not know this, but I’ll share this little tip with you anyways. The way that the heel is structured on this pair of pumps is not only comfortable but it also offers better support for your foot. Pumps which have a straight heel like this pair of Ninewest pumps don’t offer as much support to your feet since the heel of it doesn’t cave in (like they do on this Aldo pair) resulting in the end of the heel being directly below the heel of your foot hence offering better support. That’s a little tip you might find handy to keep in the back of your mind next time you go shoe shopping! Suede is a popular shoe material all year round, but I especially love it during autumn and winter. These over the knee pair of boots I found on Iconic looked just perfect for an autumn wardrobe and I probably would have bought them myself if I hadn’t bought a similar pair in black from Wittner just last year – you can find my pair here (they’ve been restocked in three colours this year). Now if you’re thinking of ways to style these burnt tan suede boots, check out my favourite Instagrammer, Elma Beganovich, she’s worn a similar pair of boots on her feed lately and she’s got some awesome and admirable styling skills!
A recent love of mine has been crossbody bags – Colette crossbody bags to be specific! I’ve got two bags in this edit, both of which are from Colette. The black square like one is my favourite because it’s structured and also roomy enough to fit my essentials! I love taking crossbodies when I’m not taking as many things that would require a tote, but I also want to take more than just my wallet – so finding the perfect crossbody for me is something important. I’ve currently got 6 crossbodies in various brands ranging from Colette and Kate Hill to Tory Burch and Guess. One thing I love about Colette bags is that they’ve got far more room than they seem to have, which is definitely helpful for me. The black and neutral mix of this bag makes it perfect not only for autumn, but for the whole year round! If you’re after a smaller and more petite choice, then this natural and ivory shaded bag also from Colette may be more your style. Did I mention that Colette is offering 30% off on all their full priced stock during this weekend only?! It’s definitely worth checking out their site – you never know what you might just find!
The accessories I’ve included in this edit are both gold – that’s because for me gold is a colour that goes nicely with the deep dark shades of autumn. Of course, gold is a timeless metal and is worn all around the year but I love how brightly it stands out against maroon and black shades in autumn, just like how much I love silver standing out against blue shades in winter and rose gold against pastels in summer! The geometric rings from Asos add a delicate yet slightly edgy touch to any outfit and the open bangle cuff has been in trend for a while. This star cuff was one of the many varieties that Asos had on their site.
Finally, as most of you may know I’m not much of a make up girl myself, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the art of makeup or the effort that so many people go to getting their make up on point! In fact, I’m guilty of watching countless makeup tutorials by Lauren Curtis on Youtube and admiring her skills regardless of the fact that I don’t even wear make up myself. Two of my favourite autumn make up trends are the thick upperlid liquid eyeliner and dark lipstick shades. I myself love the look of this deep burgundy Veronica lipstick by Napoleon Perdis and MYER is currently doing a special offer in which you receive an 8 piece gift valued over $330 when you spend $89 or more on Napoleon Perdis (check out their site for more details about this). When it comes to liquid eyeliners, VOGUE know best and they voted this Christian Dior Art Pen as one of the top 10 liquid eyeliners as “the fine tip means [it] is well suited to a more subtle daytime look.” You can find this item at MYER, Sephora or Selfridges & Co. Another top favourite on VOGUE’s list was the Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner as it was an “industry favourite” with a “truly long-wearing formula.” You can find this at David Jones, Mecca, Sephora, MYER, or Bobbi Brown and it comes in several shades and colours.
